At the Annual General Meeting, members were advised that the business model that the Chamber had been operating under for the last few years was not sustainable and decisions were taken to revert to a volunteer model and to outsource production of the Chamber's magazine.
Since the meeting, the Executive have been involved in negotiations with two parties that expressed an interest in taking on the production of a magazine.
We have had several meetings with both parties or their representatives and we finally determined it was in the best interests of members for the Chamber to enter into a joint venture with Adelphi Press.
The joint venture will combine our "Hills Rural News" and Adelphi's "Galston & Glenorie Community News" into a single paper, most likely to be called the "Hills Rural Community News". The first edition is planned for February 2012.
This arrangement will give the Chamber an on-going income, but relieve it of the work involved in production.
The executive will meet with Adelphi prior to Christmas to plan the mechanics of this new venture.
The Executive Officer will cease employment with the Chamber on January 14th and the Office in Glenorie will close at that time.
The offices will be available for sub-letting or assignment of the lease from that date, so anyone interested in office space in the area should contact myself on 0412 056 096.
